The Salesforce Nonprofit Starter Pack has been rebranded and renamed to the Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack. Along with the renaming, Salesforce.org has released two new features, Engagement Plans and Levels. We are really excited about these two new features, primarily because we can see the value they add to the NPSP, and to nonprofits organizations.
Have you ever looked at a list of Salesforce contacts and wished you could email some of them without having to create a campaign or a special view? Have you ever been frustrated that the NPSP’s Affiliated Contacts structure removes the one useful part of Salesforce emailing (the ability to find other contacts with the same Account)? Do you often need to email all Contacts affiliated with an Account?
In Part 1, we focused on providing an overview of the Federal Poverty Guidelines package for Salesforce, and how to install and use it. In this part, we’re going much more technical, including instructions on how to “DIY” a solution if you’re not using the NPSP3 with Households.
This section is much more of a video tutorial, and below the videos are all of the components you’ll need to get started. Don’t worry – we’ll explain it all to you and we’ve saved you the trouble of typing it out.
Many nonprofits, particularly human-services focused nonprofits, have to incorporate federal poverty guidance information into their program management and reporting. This can be a bit of a pain to do, so we’ve put together a tiny Salesforce package to provide a helping hand!
When we talk about the NPSP, what do we mean? It’s a common acronym in the Dictionary of Salesforce, but is it so common outside of that context? We’re not sure it is. That’s why we’re here today to tell you exactly what is meant when we refer to your organization’s NPSP, or Nonprofit Starter Pack.
Salesforce designed the NPSP knowing that its most common features were useful to nonprofits, but maybe needed a little bit of tweaking to be considered efficient and effective. Working on top of the Salesforce Enterprise Edition, the Nonprofit Starter Pack helps organizations manage donors, donor memberships and affiliations. It also allows for the creation of Household accounts and household giving, and incorporates recurring payments and gifts.
Membership is one of those features of the Nonprofit Starter Pack that seems to be shrouded in mystery. Sure, you’ve read the getting started guide and you have all the fields on your screens, but how do you actually manage your membership lifecycle using the NPSP?
The key is understanding that the NPSP is relatively passive out of the box – when you create a new membership donation, and enter dates in the Membership Start and Membership End date fields and choose a Membership Level and Membership Origin, those dates and selections will get copied up to the contact’s record. But they won’t get carried over into next year’s membership update automatically.
