A Look At NGO Connect

By | CRM & Salesforce

ngo connectIn September, Salesforce launched their latest tool for nonprofits, an all-encompassing cloud system called NGO Connect. Now, after a month of researching this latest offering, we want to give you a look into why NGO Connect might work for your organization. Salesforce broadcasts NGO Connect as a way to manage constituents via a comprehensive, 360-degree view, and to create lasting relationships with these constituents, volunteers, donors and all of the other folks who are essential to your organization’s success. The idea is that NGO Connect is a CRM for the social media era and that constituents expect NPOs to deliver whenever and wherever. Optimized for mobile devices and accessible from any place with internet access, NGO Connect takes the best parts of Salesforce for nonprofits and gives you easy access to each of them, allowing you to spend less time searching for data and information and more time fulfilling your mission.

Video Testimonial: Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund

By | CRM & Salesforce

The Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund awards qualified students with renewable academic scholarships. To qualify for these awards, students must demonstrate financial need, academic achievement and a commitment to community service. The Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund sought out 501Partners to help implement a more effective Salesforce strategy for managing their student applications. Throughout our engagement with the Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund, we simplified their processes with our Applicant Manager app and helped them use Salesforce to maximize the efficiency of their database.

United Planet is an organization whose mission is to “create a world in which all people understand, respect and support one another.” One of United Planet’s most popular programs sends volunteers abroad to over 35 countries for anywhere from one week to one year. As part of our engagement with United Planet, we helped them implement Salesforce from the beginning, while training their staff to be proficient in the tool. We are involved in a “phase two” with United Planet that will help them grow and improve their organization via their Salesforce instance.

Video Testimonial: Food For Free

Food for Free is a great organization which rescues fresh food that might otherwise go to waste, and distributes it to those in need via the local emergency food system. During our Discovery process, a need for electronic food tracking was assessed. Because Food for Free is such a large organization, distributing more than 1 million pounds of food per year, the paper-based system they had long relied on was quickly becoming outdated. Our engagement with Food for Free resulted in the implementation of our Food Manager app. Now, Food for Free can track their food intake and distribution from mobile devices with real time roll-up into Salesforce. Watch the video to learn more about 501Partners’ work with this amazing nonprofit.

Nonprofit Fundraising Ideas: Harnessing Social Media With Salesforce

By | CRM & Salesforce, Nonprofit Management, Nonprofit Resources, Nonprofit Tech

fundraising ideasA study by SurveyMonkey made headlines last week when it revealed that social media users are far more generous than we might think. The survey, which polled around 1,000 adult users who identified their social media habits as ‘regular,’ yielded some very useful insights for nonprofits, including which social networks are the most effective for implementing fundraising ideas. In particular, LinkedIn users were found to be the most charitable, having given, on average, more than $100 and more than ten hours to various causes in the past year. What’s interesting, though, is that less than 1% of these same users find LinkedIn to be useful for finding out about charitable causes and events. When it comes to brainstorming fundraising ideas for your nonprofit, don’t underestimate the power of social media; further, don’t neglect to research which networks will work the best for your campaign. Though these tasks can seem daunting, they’re important, and Salesforce understands that. Here are a few handy ways to harness social media with Salesforce and to really propel your online fundraising.  Read More

Salesforce Issues Malware Warning

By | CRM & Salesforce, Information Technology, Nonprofit Tech

Salesforce has recently announced that certain malware may be able to steal a user’s Salesforce credentials. At this time, Salesforce does not believe it is affected. However, it is always good to take preventative measures in these situations. The name of this malware is Dyre or Dyreza; this would be a program (like a virus) that runs on the user’s computer. The malware could target any site, it just so happens that Salesforce is its target. (Click here to learn more about malware) You should follow the instructions below to keep your Salesforce account and your computer safe.

  1. Find out what antivirus program is running on your computers (home, work, laptop, etc. – anywhere that you might login to Salesforce).
  2. Use the website of your antivirus program or contact your IT provider to find out if you are protected from Dyre or Dyreza.
